When is Hurricane season?

Atlantic, June 1 through November 30th. In the Pacific May 15th through November 30th.

When are Hurricanes most likely to occur?

August, September and October, are the most common months for storms to occur. However there have been many storms that have hit our areas outside of these 6 months.

I don't live on the ocean, do I really need to protect my home?

Hurricanes threaten the entire US eastern seaboard. It's not just cities locate d directly on the ocean that are effected. Hurricane strength winds have been known to reach miles inland and as a direct result a tremendous amount of damage has been caused.

Are Hurricane/Impact Windows & Doors Energy Efficient?

Yes. Based on customer feedback, numerous homeowners have saved a significant amount of money on air conditioning bills in the height of the summer. All windows and doors that CitiQuiet installs significantly exceed Energy Star requirements.

How do Hurricane/Impact Windows and doors also reduce NOISE?

All hurricane/impact code windows and doors provide superior strength and are energy efficient. By laminated two pieces of glass together to form a 7/16" or 9/16" overall thickness combined with a thermally broken frame, CitiQuiet can achieve STC ratings above and beyond most other contractors. By installing a high impact hurricane window and door along with a urethane or silicone sealant on both the interior and the exterior, CitiQuiet windows reduces the noise significantly.

What makes a window impact-resistant?

The window is made with impact glass consisting of a strong laminated interlayer bonded between two panes of annealed, heat-strengthened, or tempered glass. When struck by a forceful object the glass resists shattering. (I.e. the front window of an automobile) When impact glass is struck it spider webs and stays together as one piece. This prevents water from intruding into the home even if the glass was to crack.

What is Insulated Glass?

Insulated Glazing or Insulating Glass (commonly referred to as "IG") is a set of two or more lites of glass spaced apart and hermetically sealed to form a single glazed unit with an air space between each lite. Its most important function is to improve the thermal performance of glass when used in architectural applications.

What is the advantage of argon gas between panes?

Argon gas is 5-1/2 times heavier than air. It serves as a large insulator against heat, cold and noise.

What is Low E glass?

Low-Emissivity (Low-E) coatings are microscopically thin, virtually invisible, metal or metallic oxide layers deposited on a window or skylight glazing surface primarily to reduce the U-factor by suppressing radiative heat flow.

Will I need to replace any of my window sills or have to touch up paint on my own?

No, on all window and door installations CitiQuiet will stucco, paint, and replace any damaged sills at no cost to you.
